Life couldn’t be any brighter for art dealer Christina Daniels. At the top of her career, she has no problem flaunting just how perfect her little world has become.

When tragedy strikes back home, Christina is forced to put everything on hold to return back to a past she’s tried so hard to escape. Including a love she regrets letting go.

Ian Whitman has only one regret and it was letting his first love walk out of his life. Now that she’s returned, his heart won’t give her up twice without a fight.

As secrets are revealed, can Ian soothe her heart while convincing her that a place she tried so hard to run away from is the place she’s destined to stay?

Will love get a second chance in the face of tragedy?

EXCERPT & REVIEW
EXCERPT -
Just as I place my pad of paper on the shelf to count the acrylic paint tubes, the door to the art closet flies open.

“Jesus Christ, Ian, you scared the shit outta me.” I press my hand to my chest. The look in his eyes says he doesn’t care too much about my well-being. Uh oh. It also looks like I may have over-poked the bear.

He steps into my personal space and presses his body into mine. The door automatically swings shut behind him.

“Ian?” I question.

“Chrissy?” he retorts back, his breathing already heavy with what seems like pure lust.

“Can I help you with something?” I take a deep breath, trying to calm the unsteady beat of my heart.

“Yeah, you can start by not leaving your god damn lingerie around for me to see. Unless you want me to finally break and do something about it?” He pushes himself harder into me.

And oh my god, he is definitely that. Hard.

“What are you doing?” I ask nervously.

“What I’ve been wanting to do since the moment you came back into my life.”

“And what exactly is that?” I choke out.

“Continue where we left off.”

And with that, he pulls me fully into his solid chest. The instant his lips touch mine, my knees buckle. This kiss—this powerful, overdue kiss— is going to literally bring me to my knees.

Christina Daniels walked away from her past, including her drunken mother and her sister, and into a bright future determined not to dwell in this past but to make a life for herself instead. Becoming self-absorbed, Christina never looked back at where she from until she received the call she never dreamt she'd get.

Ian Whitman let Christina go and spread her wings once, but now that she's walked back into her life, he's determined to show her that she is meant to be by his side.

As Christina re-evaluates her life and her priorities as she while trying to figure out how to care for a child, her feelings for Ian come rushing back to her as if they had never left. When secrets come out, can Christina and Ian get a chance at love despite the tragedy that has brought Christina home?

My So-Called Life is the story of forgiveness (especially that of self), second chances, and coming home.

J.D. Hollyfield's talent is out of this world. With charismatic characters that you cannot help but to love (and get a good laugh at), Hollyfield's writing style beckons you in and welcomes you home. You smile, you laugh (out loud!), and as you fall in love with each characters you root for them to get their happy ending. The previous books introduced us to a writing style that puts a smile on your face and a good mood in your heart and with each book Hollyfield's talent has only grown. My So-Called Life definitely shows readers this.

Christina is a heroine that undergoes tremendous personal growth and is a woman who is strong and independent as her leaving home at first chance shows. Christina's character is likable and humorous as she wades through her so-called life.

Ian is devoted, sweet, handsome, compassionate, and kind. The perfect package, Ian's devotion and determination to show Christina that they belong together moved me. Hollyfield's men makes single women everywhere believe that good guys do exist.

The humor is once again present in My So-Called Life and this time I kept my laugh out loud moments to my bath tub instead of public. Speaking of which, I must learn how to not throw my head back while laughing in the tub. This is the second time I hit my head from laughing to hard while reading in the tub but one cannot help but to laugh when reading a J.D. Hollyfield book. I swear every embarrassing situation a woman can get into, Hollyfield puts her female characters in to it.

My So-Called Life does not disappoint. I love this book (and this series!). This is the perfect summer read so add it to your summer TBR lists. Trust me, you won't regret it!

MY REVIEW -
Life in a Rut, Love Not Included is laugh out loud hilarious and the perfect chick-lit romance to get your heart a thumpin'.

Sarah Sullivan thought that she had it all: the perfect job, the perfect friend, the perfect guy. That is until she catches the perfect friend and perfect guy in bed together. Heading home to be comforted by her family, Sarah falls in to a sweatpants wearing, non-showering rut.

Then she crashes into Jack Calloway.
Literally.

Jack comes across as arrogant, rude, and mean at first, but it's only a matter of time before Sarah starts turning into goo around this sexy foreman and said foreman wants to sweep Sarah off her feet.

Life in a Rut, Love Not Included focuses on starting over, moving on, and finding love again. This book will make you laugh out loud (Yes, the nurse's at my doctor's office now think I am a complete lunatic thanks to this book), put a grin on your face, and a jig in your step. I have no idea where J.D. Hollyfield comes up with half the things she does, but boy, her mind must be running crazily on creativeness.

Sarah is one of a kind in her sweatpants and heels and that aunt of hers sure is a spitfire. The two of them together is crazy personified, but sure makes for comedic gold. As for poor Sarah, you can't help but feel for the girl. Not only does she walk in on her ex and he ex-friend, but then she becomes a clumsy mess when it comes to all things Jack.

This book is absolutely amazing. This author is absolutely amazing.

AMAZING!

Of course, I have to give it 5 AMAZING LAUGH OUT LOUD STARS and recommend it to everyone I know.

MY REVIEW -
I swear J.D. Hollyfield is out to make me look like a crazy person. Or maybe I should just stop reading these books in public. I once again found myself experience uncontrollable bouts of laughter in front of everyone and their brother/sister/father/mother yada yada. Honestly, I just cannot help it. Hollyfield is on fire with her humor, quick wit, and heart for romance.

Life Next Door makes me want to break out the cupcakes and wine and I'm sure it will you too. Once again Hollyfield has managed to create perfection within a book as if it was a cupcake recipe. Throw in the perfect characters including a swoon worthy, hunk of burning love detective and a neurotic baker who loves wine, add a dash of cupcakes, a pinch of a cheater cheater pumpkin eater ex and a heaping of humor and romance, you sure have the perfect 'read me in one sitting' read.

Priscilla Westcott is humorous, talented (she could win a gold medal for egg throwing), and lovable. From the beginning of the book, I knew this was one character who would stay with me and she did. I loved her quick wit, her baking madness, and her wine obession. The fact that she also adds up charges on to her ex's credit card just for the fun of it has me loving Priscilla even more.

Trent Walker is the very definition of sexy. Who is hot for cop? Me! Me! Me! A sexy detective that makes Priscilla's girl parts sing 'hunk of burning love' and her heart want Trent to be her 'teddy bear', Trent Walker is confident, cocky, romantic, sweet and the perfect man. I seriously wanted to reach into the very pages of this book and kidnap the guy.

From beginning to end, I loved this book. The characters and plot were perfect. The bakery left me with a craving for cupcakes and of course the humor left me laughing.

Can I just give J.D. Hollyfield a standing ovation on the wonder that is this series? I'm addicted to these books!

P.S. I really want a glass of wine right now!
