Book Review: A Stroke of Luck (A Bud's Diner Story)

Title: A Stroke of Luck (A Bud's Diner Story)
Author: Desiree DeOrto
Links: Goodreads / AmazonBarnes & Noble

When you work in an all-night diner, you never know who will walk in the door.

Katie Jones doesn't believe in love at first sight. After divorcing her abusive husband, she doesn't believe in love at all. But when Jacob Richmond walked into Bud's Diner, her disbelief was put to the test.

Jacob came to Kansas to find inspiration. He was searching for the subject that would be the muse for his next masterpiece. He wasn't expecting to find himself completely consumed by a waitress who had more baggage than he thought possible.

When love at first sight just doesn't cut it, your burning desire can't be controlled. Sometimes you need just a little luck to put it all together.

He was searching for inspiration....
She was searching for an escape...
But with a Stroke Of Luck, anything can happen.

My Review: A Stroke of Luck is a short story, based mostly in Bud's Diner. The owner of the diner plays a guardian match maker and gets his employee, Katie, and customer, Jacob, together.

The chemistry between Katie and Jacob is instantaneous and you'd think they were about to spontaneously combust given their reactions to one another. The book keeps heating up as the finally get to the deed. But when secrets come to light Katie has to figure out if she can get over it or if she's done with Jacon for good.

A Stroke of Luck is a short, faced paced story full of passion and steaminess with some hints of romance thrown in for good measure. I thought things moved a little too quick with Jacob and Katie but I enjoyed their story. Katie is one brave, strong girl and I liked how Jacob didn't think less of her because of her past but instead worshipped her and made her feel cherished despite it. I've always been a sucker for a soulful artist so Jacob was right up my alley.

My other favorite character was Bud, of course. Bud, once a cook who goes on to own the diner, is a bit of a meddlesome troublemaker but all for a good cause. He has a good heart and a kind personality.

A Stroke of Luck is easy to read and full of steamy goodness. Four stars for A Stroke of Luck.
